Cover the outside faucets, wrap the pipes that run through cold spaces, and put a thermometer where they're most at risk. It shows you the coldest it got overnight.

For outdoor spigots and pipes in crawl spaces, garages and under sinks on outside walls.

  • 2 insulated faucet covers. Slip on, strap tight, done.
  • Foam-and-foil pipe wrap. Self-adhesive, fits most pipe sizes.
  • Min/max thermometer. See the coldest it got last night.
  • 30-day money-back. You don't send it back.

Ships to the lower 48 states and Washington, D.C. Most orders arrive in 7–15 business days. We email you the tracking number when it ships.

Buying a gift? Orders placed from November 1 to December 24 can be refunded until January 31, so there's time to open it first. You still don't need to send it back. If your 30 days end later than that, you get the later date.

What's in the box

  • 2 Outdoor faucet covers

Insulated, slip-on, with a strap to close them tight.

  • 1 Roll of pipe wrap

About 2 inches wide and 33 feet long. Self-adhesive foam backed with foil.

  • 1 Indoor/outdoor thermometer

Digital, with a probe on a wire and a memory for the coldest and warmest reading.

Good to know
  • Disconnect the garden hose first. A hose left on traps water in the spigot. Then put the cover on.
  • Wrap the pipes that run through cold spaces: the crawl space, the garage, the attic, under a sink on an outside wall. Overlap each turn a little.
  • Put the thermometer's probe in the coldest spot and keep the screen where you can read it. If it reads close to freezing, that's where to wrap first.
  • These help, but they don't make pipes freeze-proof. On the coldest nights, also let a faucet drip and open the cabinet doors under the sinks.
  • The thermometer runs on 2 AAA batteries, which aren't included.

The why

Why these go together

Pipes freeze where the cold gets at them: the spigot on the outside wall, the pipe that runs through the crawl space, the one under the sink against the cold wall. The covers and the wrap keep the cold off them. The thermometer tells you where the cold spot really is, and how cold it got while you slept.

Before the hard freeze

Three habits that help keep pipes from freezing.

  • "On the coldest nights, let the faucets on outside walls drip a little. Moving water is harder to freeze."

  • "Open the cabinet doors under the kitchen and bathroom sinks so the warm air from the house can reach the pipes."

  • "Find your main water shut-off valve now, before you need it, and make sure it turns."

Questions about the kit

Can't find yours? Write to . We reply within 6 hours, Monday to Friday, 9 am–5 pm Eastern.

What's in the kit?

Two insulated covers for outdoor faucets, a roll of self-adhesive foam-and-foil pipe wrap, and an indoor/outdoor thermometer with a probe and a min/max memory.

Will the covers fit my outdoor faucet?

They fit most standard outdoor spigots and hose bibs. Take the hose off first, slip the cover on and close the strap tight.

Does this mean my pipes can't freeze?

No kit can promise that. Covers and wrap slow the cold down, and the thermometer shows you where it's coldest. On very cold nights, also let a faucet drip and open the cabinet doors under the sinks.

Will everything arrive together?

Maybe not. The items can ship in separate packages and arrive a few days apart. We email you the tracking for each one.

How long does shipping take?

Most orders arrive in 7–15 business days. We email you the tracking number when it ships.

What if it's not right for me?

Write to within 30 days of the day it arrives, and we'll refund what you paid within 7 business days. You don't send it back.
