Find where the cold air sneaks in and close it up: clear film over a drafty window, a seal along the bottom of the door, foam tape where the door or window doesn't close tight.

For the drafty window, the door with daylight under it, and the gaps you can feel with your hand.

  • Clear window film. You still see out. The cold stays out.
  • 2 under-door seals. Slide on under the door, cut to width.
  • Foam weatherstrip tape. For doors and windows that don't close tight.
  • 30-day money-back. You don't send it back.

Ships to the lower 48 states and Washington, D.C. Most orders arrive in 7–15 business days. We email you the tracking number when it ships.

Quantity

30-day money-back. Nothing to send back.

Email us within 30 days of the day your kit arrives. We refund you within 7 business days, and you keep it. If it arrived damaged, we'll just ask for a photo.

Buying a gift? Orders placed from November 1 to December 24 can be refunded until January 31, so there's time to open it first. You still don't need to send it back. If your 30 days end later than that, you get the later date.

What's in the box

  • 1 Window insulation film

Clear, about 47 x 39 inches. Gray hook tape sticks around the window frame and the film presses onto it.

  • 2 Under-door draft seals

Gray, about 36 inches long each. Two foam tubes that slide under the door, one on each side. Cut to fit.

  • 1 Roll of foam weatherstrip tape

White, about 16 feet. Self-adhesive, for door and window frames.

Good to know
  • Find the drafts first. On a windy day, hold a lit candle or a strip of tissue near window edges, door edges and outlets on outside walls. Where it flickers, there's a draft.
  • Clean and dry the surface before anything sticky goes on. Tape holds best above 50°F, so do it on a mild day or warm the frame first.
  • Measure the window before you cut the film. Leave a little extra on each side.
  • The film is for windows you don't open in winter. Peel it off in spring.
  • Don't seal up vents, or the air supply of a stove, furnace or water heater. Those need air.

The why

Why these go together

Most of the cold in a drafty house comes in at the same few places: around the windows, under the doors and where frames don't close tight. The film covers the window, the seal closes the gap under the door, and the tape fills the rest. Small jobs, an afternoon, and the room holds its heat better.

Keep the warm air in

Three habits that make a drafty room warmer.

  • "Close the curtains when the sun goes down. They hold in more heat than you'd think."

  • "If you have a fireplace you don't use, keep the damper closed. An open damper lets the warm air go straight up the chimney."

  • "Do the candle test on a windy day. The flame shows you every draft."
