Shipping policy

The short version

  • We ship to the lower 48 states and Washington, D.C.
  • U.S. shipping is included in the price of our stove fan.
  • The stove fan ships from overseas. Most orders arrive in 7–15 business days.
  • If we can't ship on time, we email you, and you can cancel for a full refund.

Where we ship

  • The 48 states in the "lower 48" and Washington, D.C.
  • Not yet: Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, other U.S. territories, and military addresses (APO, FPO, DPO).
  • P.O. boxes: We can't ship to P.O. boxes yet. Please use a street address. If you enter a P.O. box, we'll email you for a street address before we ship.
  • We don't ship outside the United States.

If your address is outside these areas, checkout won't let you finish, and you won't be charged.

What shipping costs

  • The stove fan: U.S. shipping is included in the price ($49.99).
  • Small orders: if the items we mail to you add up to less than $15, shipping is $5.95.
  • The guide: our Winter-Ready House guide is a download, so there's nothing to ship.
  • You see the shipping cost at checkout, before you pay. We don't add fees afterward.

When it ships and when it arrives

  • Your order is packed and shipped within 1–3 business days.
  • Most orders arrive 7–15 business days after you order. Business days are Monday to Friday, not counting holidays.
  • As soon as your box ships, we email you a tracking number. You can also check it on our Track your order page.
  • With the stove fan, our 46-page Winter-Ready House guide and the printable big-print Woodpile card (PDF) come by email, usually within minutes. They are not in the box.
  • Made in China, shipped from overseas.

If you order more than one fan

Each fan may ship in its own box, sometimes on different days.

You'll get a tracking number for each box. If only one box has come, please check your shipping emails for the second tracking number. If it still doesn't arrive, write to us.

Christmas and gift orders

In November we'll post a clear order-by date for Christmas on the shop. Orders placed after that date may arrive after Christmas, and we'll say so on the shop. The guide comes by email, so it can still arrive in time.

Giving it as a gift? Orders placed from November 1 to December 24 can be refunded until January 31. Our Refund Policy has the details.

If we can't ship on time

This is our promise, and it's also what the Federal Trade Commission's Mail Order Rule asks of every shop.

If we see that your order won't ship on time, we'll email you before the promised date. The email will tell you:

  • the new date we expect to ship it, or that we can't give a date yet; and
  • your two choices: keep your order, or cancel for a full refund.

If you cancel, we refund the full amount within 7 business days. You can cancel any time before your order ships. If we can't ship it at all, we cancel it and refund you in full.

Late, lost or stolen packages

Tracking hasn't moved for 5 business days, or your order is late:
Write to us with your order number. We'll check with the delivery company. If the box is lost, we'll send a new one (as soon as it's in stock) or refund you, whichever you prefer.

Tracking says "delivered," but you can't find it:

  1. Look around the porch, the side and back doors, behind plants, in the mailbox and in the garage.
  2. Ask your neighbors and anyone who lives with you.
  3. Wait one more business day. Sometimes a box is marked delivered a little early.
  4. Still nothing? Write to us within 30 days of the delivery date. We'll look into it with the delivery company. If the box doesn't turn up, we'll send a new one (as soon as it's in stock) or refund you.

Arrived damaged? See our Refund Policy. One photo is all we need.

Wrong address

Please check your address at checkout. If you spot a mistake, write to us right away. If your order hasn't shipped yet, we'll fix it. If it has, we'll do our best to help.
