Mix and match the gloves, the meter and the winter kits. The discount is taken off in your cart.
Push the two pins into a freshly split face of a log and read the moisture on the screen. It tells you which wood is ready to burn now and which needs more time to dry.
Most stove makers and the EPA say to burn wood under 20% moisture.
- Know before you burn. Dry wood burns hotter, with less smoke.
- Simple to read. Two pins, a few buttons, big digits.
- 30-day money-back. You don't send it back.
- Pocket-size. Keep it by the woodpile.
Ships to the lower 48 states and Washington, D.C. Most orders arrive in 7–15 business days. We email you the tracking number when it ships.

30-day money-back. Nothing to send back.
Email us within 30 days of the day your meter arrives. We refund you within 7 business days, and you keep it. If it arrived damaged, we'll just ask for a photo.
Buying a gift? Orders placed from November 1 to December 24 can be refunded until January 31, so there's time to open it first. You still don't need to send it back. If your 30 days end later than that, you get the later date.
What's in the box
-
1 Firewood moisture meter
Two pins, digital screen, protective cap.
Good to know
- Test a freshly split face. Split a log and test the inside, not the ends or the bark: the outside dries first and reads low.
- Under 20% is ready to burn. That's the level the EPA and most stove makers recommend.
- Use the wood (Timber) setting. The meter also has settings for other materials.
- It's a guide, not a lab test. Readings vary with the kind of wood and the temperature, so test a few logs from the pile.
- It runs on a 9V battery. If yours arrives without one, write to us and we'll sort it out.
The plain facts
- Made in China, shipped to you from overseas. Most orders arrive in 7–15 business days.

The why
Why dry wood matters
Wet wood spends its heat boiling off water. It smolders, smokes, blackens the stove glass and leaves more creosote in the chimney. Wood that's dry enough lights easily and burns hotter. The EPA's Burn Wise program says to burn wood with less than 20% moisture.
Stove safety
Three habits that keep a wood stove safe.
-
"Keep anything that can burn at least 3 feet away from the stove: chairs, curtains, the wood box, the kindling basket."
-
"Have the chimney inspected every year, before the burning season, and cleaned when the sweep says it needs it."
-
"Let the ashes cool, then put them in a metal can with a tight lid, and set it outside at least 10 feet from the house."

What reading means the wood is ready?
Under 20%. That's the level the EPA and most stove makers recommend. Wood above that will smolder and smoke more.
Where on the log do I test?
Split a log and push the pins into the fresh inside face. The ends and the bark dry first, so they read lower than the wood really is.
Does it need batteries?
Yes, it runs on a 9V battery. If yours arrives without one, write to help@firstfrosthome.com and we'll sort it out.
Is it exact?
It's a good guide, not a lab test. Readings change a little with the kind of wood and the temperature, so test a few logs from the pile.
How long does shipping take?
Most orders arrive in 7–15 business days. We email you the tracking number when it ships.
What if it's not right for me?
Write to help@firstfrosthome.com within 30 days of the day it arrives, and we'll refund what you paid within 7 business days. You don't send it back.
